Hi, we are CMiD
We are a young deep-tech startup building the identity layer for the circular built world. With CMiD, we want to make building components and materials recognizable through their unique surface structure and connect them with digital product, origin and lifecycle data.
We are an early stage startup, but we are already working on pilot projects and preparing more use cases. That means there is a lot to build, test, question and improve - and plenty of room for your own ideas.
We are looking for a motivated working student or junior profile to support us in Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Python.
What you will work on
You will work closely with our CTO and founding team on real technical challenges at the intersection of computer vision, machine learning and material data. This is a hands-on role for someone who likes working with visual data, testing ideas and building prototypes.
The spectrum of tasks is broad and dynamic. You’ll be involved in developing our core technology stack: from smartphone-based scanning and surface recognition, designing data structures, and shaping secure, decentralized access to material identities. We're also creating backend tools for manufacturers and interfaces for recyclers, developers, and regulators—so there’s plenty of room to get hands-on with full-stack development, computer vision, or UX.
- Analyzing and processing image and video data
- Supporting the development and testing of computer vision and machine learning approaches
- Testing, evaluating and improving ML models
- Preparing data, building features and improving data workflows
- Building prototypes for product-related features
- Helping us make technical workflows more robust and scalable
- Documenting experiments, results and technical decisions
- Bringing in your own ideas and perspective
What you bring
Must-have:
- A background in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or a related field - for example as a student, recent graduate or through relevant projects
- Good Python skills
- First experience with Machine Learning and/or Computer Vision, for example from university, private projects or previous work
- Basic understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering and visual data workflows
- Basic knowledge of SQL, Git and software development practices
- Strong analytical thinking, debugging and problem-solving skills
- Strong English skills for daily collaboration
- Curiosity, initiative and motivation to work in a young startup where things move fast and not everything is already predefined
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with common Python libraries or ML/computer vision frameworks
- First experience with APIs or REST APIs
- Basic understanding of object-oriented programming
- Basic Docker knowledge
- German skills
- Ukrainian skills
How we work
We currently work remotely and are planning to open an office in the coming months. Berlin is a plus, but not a requirement.
We are a small, open and friendly team that values curiosity, collaboration and new ideas. You will get guidance when needed, but also room to work independently and help shape things with us.
We are international, hands-on and open to people of all genders, cultures and backgrounds. Some project phases may be more intense, others more flexible.
What we offer
You have the opportunity to work on a vision with added value for society in an early-stage start-up. You can contribute and realise your ideas with a great deal of creative freedom. As founders, we bring a wealth of experience in the industry and a strong network to the table.
- Flexible working hours
- Remote work within Europe
- Direct collaboration with the CTO and founding team
- Work on real pilot projects and product development
- Space to contribute your own ideas from an early stage
- A broad range of technical topics to explore
- Development opportunities as CMiD grows
- A supportive team that values openness, curiosity and collaboration
- The chance to help build technology with real-world impact
